Project "how to": Recycle a magazine rack

My room is really messy and some of the stuff that keep taking the most of the place is stuff i can't get rid of.... like my accessories. For about a year or so i have stored the most of my necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings in a gym bag and kept the bag in my closet. Even though i actually don't have any time to organize i tried to think out of the box and be creative.
Usually i would par my earrings, put them into old, empty Pickwick tea-boxes or small containers, but they can't even hold them all and in no time, my earring would disappear and my necklaces would be tangled.

I tried to try something new.
It may not look good or either be smart
- but it worked for me so far.

So here's my guide to organize your inexpensive jewelry.

I have a magazine rack fastened to my book shelf, which stands right next to my mirror and makeup-drawer

I don't use it for anything else, than to display some magazines i have, but don't (more like "haven't) read.  and it's also a place i keep my angry birds toys.

I took some of the content of my sports bag on the table, just to get an overview on how many different kinds of goods I have.

I bought some different stuff from a clothing store that was about to close and they sold all the content of the store - including these hooks for 2 kr. each. :D

They had to be secured tightly so therefore i could only hang them on the frame that is secured closely to the wall. Otherwise they would fall off.

Then i just started to organize, so everything would fit the space on the rack. I  hung my stuff in different orders to see if it it could take the weight and etc....

And voila! This is how it ended looking like:

First row from top:
1: Left: big/wide bracelets   Right: Chunky/heavy bracelets (works as amour)
2:  left: feather earrings    right: long and big earrings.
3.Bracelets and my self made earings.
4. weird earrings from H&M
5. singles and heavy earrings
6. the earrings i use the most.
7. the bjørn borg bag keeps bracelets i have made/knotted myself
8. Left: long necklaces       middle: plain chains     right: collarbone-length necklaces

Note* i still keep my rings in an iPhone box.. but I keep my expensive jewelry's in a small jewelry box.
I keep the pin-in type of earrings in the box you can see in the 6# picture, down left.

Before i snug into my pajamas, i hang my accessories back to place and it's easy and fast. It's like a check-out-counter.

That's how i would use a rack and i hope you can find some inspiration to (re)use things that just are for decoration or that you're about to throw out.

Good luck.

and good night!

Little Alien

Saturday I spend the most of the time at home and once again (and as usual when i'm at mu uncle's place in Copenhagen), i tried to be creative.

I had an old neon-yellow purse i bought from H&M for about 20 kr. a year ago or so. Its color had faded a bit and the corners turned grey/blue, which probably had come from my jeans. I thought about cutting it and make something fun out of it and yes... so what i did make out of it was completely random... and weird.. So here is what i did in steps.

1st Project: "Yo dawg! I heard you like yellow purses, so i took your purse and made it into another yellow purse".

1. Cut the hem so the pieces fall apart.

2. I found my old plastic box for my iPod Nano and took the paper out of it.

3. Measure the zipper so it fits the box(top piece).
4. Glue it !

5. Glue a bottom pies and a side piece to cover the side.

6. Glue the zipper to the other plastic container.

7.  Be proud and try to remove the glue from your hands.
8. cry happily and clap shoulder to praise yourself!

9. Remember that you got the other side to  cover with fabric.
10. measure the bottom with the fabric

11. find out that the other piece is too small for the other side...
12. Whine loudly
13. Be rational
14. Whine silently
15. Think that everybody would think it ought to look like that
16. think that you are awesome and going to be a designer someday.
17. Take a lot of photos to document your fail experiment.

2nd Project: "Not sure if i should save the fabric, or make something else out of it"
- and we are proceeding from step 17.

18. Go to "Google.com".
19. search  "random"
20. search "round edged stars"
 21. Copy a picture in to a word document
 Search "honeycomb"
22. find Android
23. Search apple
24. find "android vs apple"-pictures
25.  Copy android photo into word document
 26. Print word document.
27. Cut the shapes out of the paper
28. place on fabric and cut the figures out
29. Place them on the tee you randomly found next to you.
30. Wonder why the hell your tee is here.
31. Focus on your project instead.
32. Pause and brush teeth to Dennis.
33. Back to process

34. Ask uncle and aunt for help with glue and how to place the figures and for inspiration.
35.Place android as you like (mouth open, eating something, crossed arms etc.) and glue it with super fabric glue instead of normal cheap superglue that ruins everything.

36. Place stars and glue them.

36. Take a picture of what you have ruined.

37. Wear tee and cam-whore

38. blog
39. Blog tomorrow
40. go to sleep.

Ω

I have been cleaning my closet for broken jewelry like necklaces and pendants and made some bracelets out of them instead. I must say that i'm satisfied with the results; quite simple, colorful and fun.
I'm wearing a few of them and still working with some other pieces, but here's a picture ;)

It's lovely how stacked bracelets can complete an outfit and especially the brown flower goes well with the color of my knit ^^

What you can do with your old shoes

Tutorial A: Collar.

1. You take an old pair of leathershoes that your mother wants you to throw away because they either are old, broken or just ugly.
- in my case, it was all three...

2. Clean the leather and let it dry.

3. cut the sole off as close to the line to get as much fabric as possible to work with.

4. the leather is a bit thick because of the many layers of stiff material underneath. Cut/rip them of if possible to make the fabric more flexible.

5. If there are curves, bend the fabric to remove the curves and put some glue to flatten the round tip from the shoe - remember to use clips for the best result.

6. find some cord/string/band and attach a piece to each corners.

7. place around neck - look at yourself in the mirror for the right length and fit.

8. tie a bow to secure the collar in place.

9. wear a v-neck sweater over it to make a illusion of wearing a leather turtle-neck blouse.
- remmember to check that the corners doesn't peak out. doesn't work if your hair is too short.

10. look at yourself in the mirror again and take some pictures of your double chin to share with your other camwhores.

* note: remember to smile, because if you're lucky the lens will break... JK !

 Tutorial B: Pockets.

1. take the other shoes of yours
2. follow step 1- 4 from Tutorial A
3. decide what part of the fabric that you want to use for the inline.
4. measure and cut size and shape to fit the the pocket's shape.
5. hand-sew it on!
6. Be careful
7. wear the shorts with a shirt tugged in
8. take the shorts of again
9. Cut the piece of fabric of the back and on the inside of the shorts that tells where you have bought them from.
10. put them on again and tug the shirt in.
11.go outside - it's healthy.
12. go inside
13. put on some sunblock
14. go outside and stay there.

*note: if you get compliments - smile and don't tell where you bought them.

If you do it right you will get something like this ;)
(I might want to fray them a bit for a more "trashy" look - because it would make them look REALLY EXPEN$IVE! Topdollar!  ^^)

*Note: I wrote it for fun... nothing serious though.
Now everyone knows i'm wearing a shoe around my neck...
MY LIFE IS R U I N E D !"

Not really.---
            good luck! -

#4 - Cat stretching

week 4:

I went to my cousins confirmation last sunday and got to eat quite a lot - especially cupcakes, chocolate and other sweets and therefore I can feel that I have made almost no progress this week (I have maybe even gained in weight?!! T___T). BUT I HAVE TO STAY FOCUSED !!!! OTHERWISE I WILL LOOK LIKE SWAGRID !!! :(   -  (that's the right motivation for me! :b)
It's really difficult for me to stay away from sweets. every time i say that i pass a cake, i always end up eating double portion... even if i only eat one portion ... i still consume another one immediately!!!! T___T

Here was my outfit:

Okay enough of that .... Here is this week's results.

Progress so far:
Nike+ app: 27.49 km = I have within this week run 7.7 km (I have become faster since my average pace was about 7.30 min/km on a 3.8 km run, but now it is about 6.4-7 min/km!! :D)
NTC: 210 min = 90 min of training/workouts this week with the NTC-App.

I actually bike every day for school and since it is not "focused" training i have not counted it in as a part of my training. Try to think about it if i counted it in...
- I have biked for school every day since the winter holidays had ended and that is 18.2 km = 1 hour every day for five days. For a week that would be 91 km = 5 hours... wow, it sounds sick when i think about like this, but i haven't even noticed it before now'.. MAN I'M FEELING HEALTHY(and just two minutes ago i was whining about my cake problem) ! XD

I think that i (from next week) will start to measure myself to keep tracking my progress, because so far i have just avoided to look at myself in the mirror, the weight scale and also the measuring band ... hihi ^^
I know it can be depressing if you want "day-to-day" results and therefore it is better that you only weight and measure yourself max. once a week or even better ! - once every second week!

Just this morning I woke up really early and went out for a run before i went t school and it felt great. The sun was shining, but the temperature was about 4-5 Celsius so it was pretty chill. My feet still aches, but not as much as before and that might be because i have only run twice this week and not every second day like the week before. Besides, I have also stretched out much more than before.

Everybody knows that it is really important to stretch out your body either before or after a workout as a part of the training, because it warms up/cools down your body, prevents injuries, release tension, make you relax and prepares you for any activity afterwards.

Remember to stretch your body, when you have the opportunity. It can be in the pause, after classes, before you go to bed etc. Don't be ashamed or anything if you're in public, because it's not humiliating in any way and guys actually finds it sexy (only if your skip the "yawn-part" and don't do it as how asian parents would do it.... you know what i mean).
-  I always do it in the morning in my bed, because i love to curl my body and play around under my sheets, before i start my day. It makes me feel skinnier and more flexible, which I think is sexy, and therefore it gives me a boost of confidence ...... just till i get to see the monster, which is waiting for me, each morning in the bathroom mirror... my confi-meter goes zero ... XD

So ?  - Remember to stretch out everyone !
it is a curse to forget that !!

Night peps!

#3 - Sleep cycle

Week 3

Tattoes from Julie(Polarbear) and Dennis(Duck)

I haven't run much the past days, because i have been lazy.  The weather has been awful and my feet hurts. I need to get a new pair of running shoes that really "fits" my duck feet, because it hurts under my feet when i run. Maybe i need a new running style ? - well i have to read on to that for next time.
- I have been craving for sweets much more this week than last week and i think it is because i'm feeling stressed again. I just started school today and there are many pages to read, papers to do and projects to start. A couple of days ago i felt like I had time for everything, but today it was made a reality that i was more busy than i thought i would be. I have to be more productive !  and get more sleep.

What motivates me right now are pictures of Victoria Secret models - The Angels - Candice's and Erin's slim, curvy and muscular body.

Even though i have problems with my feet, I still try to use other methods to get in shape.
Nike Training Club is an free app available for iPhones which has a lot of workouts that can be done everywhere (needs some space). Mostly I use the stretching guide by Shawn Johnson either before i run/workout or after and it depends if i have time for it and what time of the day it is.

I try to get myself out of my so-called semi winter depression, which have resulted in me waking up too late. Now i'm using an app called Sleep Cycle. It wakes me up in a 30 min phase(settings can be changed) that ends at the time i want to wake up. If i want to wake up by 6, the alarm phase starts at 5.30. It has a monitor that uses signals from my body to find out when i'm in my lightest sleep state, which makes it easier for me to wake up.
I place it next to my pillow - faced down - if i want to snooze, i simply knock on my iPhone.
It's quite simple and i will recommend you to read the instructions carefully to understand how it works and how to use it right for your needs. The best is that this app is also free and the alarm sound can be changed to your own music. There are a variety of settings to personalize the app, so you can get the most out of the app ;), but the bad thing is that you can't exit the app or otherwise it will end the alarm. no home screen mode :(

Another thing that keeps me wanting this is that i don't want to end up like Swagrid here.
( no offense to Harry Potter fans! I love Hagrid and the other characters myself =] !)

#2 - Easter Recap

Outfit of the day
yeah well... I'm trying to hard

I havn't posted anything since the Easter holiday started. It's not because of homeworks or my siblings taking my time, but my father. I have helped him out with work from monday to thursday (9-20 every day). Even though it's neither exhausting or hard, i chose not to blog, when I come home, since nothing has happened the last few days.

I know that my last blog entry was a little bit confusing, ambiguous and hard to comprehend, but to shorten the content and make it clearer: I ditched school a whole day (no classes thursday and friday anyway, so I actually had holiday from Wednesday).
- i was really scared that i would be caught, but eventually my little runaway turned out to be a wonderful experience^^

About my health project:
I have not run as much as last week due the awful weather that has terrorized Denmark this week. It has stormed, rained and even snowed a bit. The temperature is about -2 Celsius at nighttime and from 5-8 Celsius at daytime.

I have so far only run 3.87 km this week... Fail ... But it's easier for me to wake up early now ^^.

Okay time to look back at my progress so far.

- How I looked like June 2011

"TOP 3 things I should not had done instead of doing assignments, which means i have wasted a lot of time, but did anyway"-list

1. played around with my plashes like they were alive and that they really could feel that i pulled their cheeks, trying to make them red....

 2. whining awfully  like a "5 year old girl who has to pee"every time i saw something ridiculously cute in TIGER.

3. Counted my stars and no there were not 1000 stars in that bucket, but only 972, which means 28 stars were missing...

End Note of the post: - it always ends like this when i fell i haven't blogged for a while :D

Last week I baked some macaroons for my cousin and here's some pictures:
